FREE STATE – Monte Ernest Modisenyane(43) and his Close corporation Modisenyane Property Consultants CC appeared before the Bloemfontein Magistrate Court on Thursday, 08 April 2021 where they were convicted and sentenced as charged for contravention of tax administration act.
A pre liminary probe by the South African Revenue Services(SARS) uncovered Modisenyane and his close corporation Modisenyane Property Consultants CC, fraudulently prejudiced the receiver of revenue in access of more than R5 million. The incident took place between the period of 2008 and 2018.
The matter was then reported to the Hawk’s Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit in Bloemfontein for further investigation. Modisenyane was issued with court summonses on Thursday,15 August 2019. He appeared in court on several occasions which led to his recent conviction on Thursday, 08 April 2021.
The court sentenced Modisenyane to 5 years imprisonment which is suspended for 5 years on condition that he refund SARS the amount of R5 million on or before 31 March 2026. The close corporation was fined R5 million which is suspended for 5 years on condition that the company does not commit the same offence during the period of suspension.
